Alternate Sexuality In The Media

Throughout multiple decades of television broadcasting, homosexuals and bisexuals have remained unseen. Whenever an episode of a television series featured a homosexual character, controversy would emerge. Also, if a television series were to include reoccurring themes of homosexuality and homosexuals, more controversy would emerge. However, as time went on, homosexual themes were slowly becoming more acceptable on television. Unfortunately, the progression rate of homosexual themes in movies is much slower.

Australia was the first country to introduce a television series with homosexual characters, and the United Kingdom being the second. However, in the United States, the progression rate is much slower in the United States compared to Australia and the United Kingdom. To transition to movies, the progress of homosexual themes in movies is much slower. In Britain, for example, the first movie to have a lesbian theme appeared in 1990 known as, Oranges Are Not The Only Fruit. In the United States, the most highly recognized movie with gay characters is Brokeback Mountain, which came out in 2005.

To conclude this essay, it is unfortunate to see the slow acceptance of homosexuality in the media. However, the only thing we can hope for is that homosexuality will be continuously more accepted in the media.

Media Debates

The media can put various impressions on the people in society. There are many different ways to define and analyze the media. However, the focus of this essay will be based around two opposing theorists. The one theorist is known as "Theodor Adorno" while the opposing theorist is known as "John Fiske". Theodor Adorno's theory is based around the influence of media, while John Fiske's theory is based around the people's influence on the media.

In his time, Theodor Adorno called the media, "Culture Industry". The forms of media he referred to were both movies and music. Theodor Adorno's theory claimed that if an individual stated that he or she enjoyed what the culture industry produced, then that means they are being manipulated by the operation of the culture industry. Throughout his life, John Fiske admitted he was enthusiast of popular culture. John Fiske's theory stated that the media does not have as much as an influence on society, but that society influences the media, based upon popular characteristics of society at the present time.

In conclusion to this summary, both Theodor Adorno and John Fiske represent good debates. However, Theodor Adorno represents the best debate, due to understand how the media operates.

NOTE: In the original summary, I used the term "essay". The correct word would of been "summary".

Conclusion For This Series

This is the last of the essays based around the text-book known as "Social Problems". The blog will be based around sociology, but a different book.

Conventional Warfare And Terrorism

As of the past decade, terrorism has been claimed by Society as a type of war. While it may be similar to war due to weapon-based, a contrast is still present between the terms of conventional warfare and terrorism. There are three different methods to define this contrast. The first reason is that the members inside of terrorist attacks remain nearly unknown. While battles within wars are conducted between known enemies, such is not the case with terrorism. The acts of terrorism are performed by unknown identities, along side who they are working under.

Another reason why Warfare and Terrorism differ is because the goals of terrorist organizations are nearly unknown. When wars are conducted, the goals and motivations of the opposing armies are clear. However, the motivations of terrorist organizations are nearly unknown. Also, another reason why terrorism and conventional are not similar is because of the fact that acts of terrorism are not balanced compared to war. While conventional warfare is conducted by two opposing armies, terrorism is unbalanced. In terrorism, a minimal amount of individuals utilize terror-based strategies in order to attack a very strong foe, which is not the same as conventional warfare.

In conclusion, both War and Terrorism are very serious, alongside being difficult to solve as social problems. The only hopeful methods to solving these issues can only be found from the strategies of the right theorists and politicians.

Theories Of War And Terrorism

Different kinds of people throughout the years have created studies on why war and terrorism occur. This essay will be based around these reasons. A man by the name of Konrad Lorenz, who was a biology scientist, claims the comparison between animals defending their territory and human beings using war to protect their country. Another scientist, who goes by the name of "Edward Wilson" also provided a biological theory on war and terrorism. Edward Wilson's theory states that traits such as the desire of war is due to men fighting among each other for sexual dominance over women, while comparing this situation to the lifestyle of animals. This part of the theory, however, is more heavily detailed.

Edward Wilson also applied to his theory that the more of an nature a man has, the chances of reproduction with a female are higher. The conclusion to his theory was that these type of issues would occur for generation after generation. Another theory known as the "Function Of Conflict", mentions the results from war and other forms of fighting that are provided to societies. A study of wars were conducted by a theorist studying military known as "Carl Von Clausewitz". Carl Von Clausewitz mentioned that war is powered by political agendas, and going to war in order to obtain territory for political accomplishments.

Also, Carl Von Clausewitz mentioned that, to a country's leader, winning a war maybe effective if the country's leader believes the benefits from victory outweigh the loss of lives in the process. An example of another theory is "The Meanings Of Conflict", which is a type of theory that put its attention on what definitions which individuals apply to violent situations such as war. This type of theory mentions that a leader of a nation uses emblems, alongside definitions, to change a war's reality. Individuals will also glorify the acts of war by claiming that their army is under alliance with God. However, individuals will also use emblems and expressions to make the opposing nation of a war appear sinister. Previous presidents of the United States Of America have defined the opposing nations in such ways.

In the military, the leaders use racial slurs and other forms of degrading the opposing army's identity as a part of training for newcomers to the army. Another theory to mention is the Inequality and Conflict" theory, which shows the connection between social inequality and war. The individual who helped in establishing this theory is Karl Marx. Karl Marx viewed politicians as being controlled by capitalists. During the time period that Karl Marx lived in, capitalists took control of the market to sell new materials, while allowing high-income nations in Europe to claim dominance over other countries.

In conclusion, there are are multiple theories to why war and terrorism occur. However, some theories are more valid than others. Therefore, the provided theories must be closely examined in order to create a global solution for these problems.

Environmental Racism

One of the few theories that explains the problems and solutions to our environmental problems is known as the Social-Conflict Approach. Within this theory, there is a term known as "Environmental Racism". This theory states that prejudice is exposed by environmental dangers that are nearby poor individuals, mainly minorities. According to historical records, this type of environmental damage comes from factories. Therefore, people of poor income are attracted to these jobs, due to their availability. After when they are hired, the only way they feel they can survive is by working in these dangerous establishments.

This theory also mentions that all of these events occur due to the conduct of capitalism. The theory also mentions that through controlling factories and other groups, they can assign these factories and groups to manipulate people into doing the assigned tasks. The solution provided by this theory states that equality within households, and the redistributing of products from more advanced nations to nations that are not as advanced, are what is required to stop environmental racism. Unfortunately, while this strategy is good, the success rate is low, which is due to historical records stating that socialist strategies become defunct over time. However, studies have shown that societies under capitalistic conduct have the potential to make progress in protecting the environment from harm. Examples of these capitalistic nations are North America and Europe.

To conclude this essay, environment racism is harmful in multiple ways. However, with just the right strategy, maybe we can stop this form of prejudice.

Technology And The Environment

Throughout most of the world, there is some form of dependence on technology. While technology has been of good assistance in multiple countries, technology contains multiple drawbacks as well, and has fatal drawbacks on the environment. In this essay, I will be writing about how technology damages both the environment and cultural customs. After I write about both topics, I will write about the contrasts between a ecologically-based culture and individual lifestyles. To begin, I will write about how technology harms the environment. The term used for how technology and other materials effect the environment is known as "environmental deficit".

The term "environmental deficit" states that over a long period of time, the environment will slowly become damaged by individuals who discard objects over a short period of time. This issue must be confronted for three individual reasons. The first reason is that how the environment operates is a social problem due to the population's consumption of materialism and the use of technology. The second reason is that damage to the environment is unintentional, and that we are oblivious to the damage we cause to the environment. The third and last reason is that the damage done to the environment can be repaired to a certain degree.

Next, I will write about how technology can damage our cultural traditions. Throughout the entire world, the countries that damage the environment are those of higher income. Examples of these countries include the United States Of America and Canada. However, the country that is of most concern due to its high use of electricity is the United States Of America. The desire for electricity is so high in the United States that it goes beyond the amount of electricity available, which inflicts damage to the environment. That is one of many examples of how harm to the environment can damage the United States culture.

To expand more on this issue, the United States seeks comfort from materialism. Americans feel that, through materialism, lives can be improved. Environmentalists call this theory, "the logic of growth". However, people who operate under this theory do still realize the ramifications of their conduct towards the environment. Environmentalists state, however, that this pattern of thinking is incorrect. There are three reasons why this is the case.

The first reason why the logic of growth theory is false is because people who operate underneath this theory believe that the availability for natural resources are infinite, which is not the case. The second and last reason is because the improvement of technology and other objects not only do not enrich the lives of individuals, but also cause fatal harm to the environment. Therefore, environmentalists do not believe the logic of growth is valid. The next and last topic I will write about is the contrast between our current lifestyle and a ecologically-based lifestyle. What would change with an ecologically-based lifestyle compared to our current lifestyle is by not only providing a limited amount of necessary needs for these current times, but predicting what we might need in the future. Also, reducing the amount of waste and stabilizing the human population would also improve the environment.

To conclude this entire essay, our environment is in critical condition. However, with just the right strategies, we can reverse some if not most of the damage caused to the environment.

Global Inequality Theory

In the study of Sociology, there are reasons why the issue known as "global inequality" exists. These reasons are called "theories". Therefore, I will write about both the Modernization Theory and the World System Theory, which are two very well-known theories. To begin, I will write about the Modernization Theory. The Modernization Theory is centered around societies economically and socially. The Modernization Theory also displays the issue of global inequality in both technological and cultural ways, while showing the contrasts in societies as well.

This theory states that while societies such as North America have been using industrial technology to progress in different ways, nations with a lower income and a small amount of industrial technology are still poor. The Modernization Theory states that not every nation is willing to give up their cultural backgrounds for better ways of living. The reason why this occurs us due to both the cultural customs and belief systems within their country that declines the use of industrial technology. Even though the Modernization Theory has the reasons why global inequality occurs, they provide a strategy which can improve the nations across the world. This strategy is known as "The Stages of Modernization.". The first theory is known as the "Traditional Stage".

In the Traditional Stage, individuals make residence in societies that are based around both agriculture and tradition. Therefore, the children are commanded to respect standards of the past. Because of this issue, they do not have freedom beyond family life and nearby communities. In these modern day times, multiple nations are still economically struggling due to this issue. The second part of this solution is the "Take-Off Stage". When societies claim independence and permit individuals to use their abilities to their advantage, the economy starts expanding.

Markets are also established to sell goods for income. While customs are weakened, improvements to the nations are established. This stage, however, requires the impression of higher-income nations, which would provide more progressive opportunities in growth of the nations. The third stage is known as the "Drive To Technological Maturity". Within this stage. individuals acknowledge poverty and classify poverty as an issue. Therefore, they use the concept of Industrialization to expand their own economy and markets.

Afterwards, individuals come to accept new ways of living, and decline the old customs. Poverty becomes less of an issue, and the encouragement of education and jobs increase and improve individuals. Laws are also accepted by politicians which require mandatory rights to every type of individual. The fourth and last part of this stage is known as "High Mass Consumption". Within this stage, Industrial Technology is common, and the economy is growing at a fast rate, but with higher customs being established as well. To conclude this part of the essay, not only do richer nations need to support poor nations in order to grow through the stages, but the poor nations need to maintain their populations as well. The next and last theory I will write about is known as "World System Theory".

To begin, I will write about a theory established by Immanuel Wallerstein. Immanuel Wallerstein claims that a economy based around capitalism is based around higher income nations, and are the inner key part of the economy of the world. However, poor nations are the limitations of the economy of the world. While a few countries have connections with the world economy, other countries do not. Therefore, countries who have no connection with this type of economic system are taken advantage of and manipulated in a industrial way. The solution to these issues is to establish a balanced economic system, which maintains both the population and economic levels.

To conclude this entire essay, global inequality will unfortunately continue. However, we can continue to develop strategies to increase global equality and decrease global inequality.

Population Theories

Within the entire world, we have an extremely high population. With a high population comes many issues. Over time, there were theories created on the fate of human population, and theories on how to stabilize the human population. In this essay, I will write about both types of theories. To begin, I will write about a theory by Thomas Robert Malthus. Thomas Robert Malthus felt that the human population had two strong desires, which were food consumption and sexuality.

He felt that the food supplied to the human population was not enough to maintain restrictions, alongside peace and harmony. He believed that problems such as war and crime could decrease the velocity of population growth. However, Malthus was not accepting of birth control strategies due to his religion, and also felt that the human population would never decline sexuality. With this contradictory statement, Malthus himself felt that there would be no end to the struggles and flaws of the human population. Next, I will write about the Demographic Transition Theory. This type of theory is also a strategy, and is a four-step process.

Stage One of this strategy is based around time periods before 1750. Due to the lack of birth control and a dependence on the hard work of children, the birth rates were very high. However, the amount of death in this time period were very high due to the lack of understanding of disease and health from poor individuals. While Stage One was a preparation step, Stage Two is the start of the Demographic Transition. In Stage Two, the ration of death is less due to lives being lived by higher levels of conduct. However, the amount of child birth is still very high. Today, the lowest income countries in the world are currently in Stage 2.

Within Stage 3, a highly stable economy would exist. Also, the birth and death ratio would be even, along with population itself slowly coming to a halt. The amount of fertility would also partially drop due to the birth of multiple children no longer being necessary. The academic expenses from children would result in financial stress instead of the income of the family. With the availability of birth control, the size of families are reduced, which is beneficial to women who find working outside of the home to be their preference. Stage Four transitions into a post industrial economy condones a calm population total.

The birth and death ratio is low, making the increase in population minimal. To conclude this essay, the Demographic Transition is superior compared to Malthus' theory. However, the issue of population will still continue for many decades more.

Politics And Urban Life

In our society of the United States of America, different individuals have variable opinions on cities in the United States Of America. In this case, so do politicians. Therefore, this essay will be based upon what each Political Party believes are the solutions to problems within cities, To begin, I will write about what the Conservative Political Party believes is the solution to problems within the city. The Conservative Political Party believes that morality is an issue within cities. According to the Conservative Political Party, the issues include infants becoming deceased before turning one year old, and crimes that involve the use of guns.

The conservative Political Party also views the increase in welfare as a result of crime based around violence, alongside violence within the streets and poverty being the result of separated families. Therefore, the Conservative Political Party believes believes the solutions to these issues are found in establishments such as local governments and church. Nest, I will write about The Liberal Political Party, and their views of problems and solutions within the city. The Liberal Political Party views inequality both economically and socially as reasons for why the city is a unsafe environment. Because of these issues, the Liberal Political Party believes that initiating laws based around anti-discrimination can be a solution to these issues. The benefits this law states that racism cannot be blended with the sales of homes, and that people of ethnic backgrounds or of a different skin color have all the options available to their budget.

Next, I will about what The Radical Left believes are the problems and solutions to life in the city. The Radical Left has similar view-points to the Liberal Political Party. The Radical Left believes that a standard amount of change is mandatory in order to fix issues such as economic inequality and prejudice. The Radical Left also believes that the government has less control, while a capitalist economy has too much control. The Radical Left believes that a basic structure of change is required to fix the United States economy.

To conclude this essay, only time will tell how the issues within cities are managed. Therefore, the individual must choose their political strategy wisely.

Change From The Industrial Revolution

In the United States of America, how the cities operate, and their size has changed over time. A more important aspect of this topic is the Industrial Revolution. Therefore, this essay will focus on the changes and drawbacks of the Industrial Revolution, which they provided. To begin, I will write about Colonial Villages. In 1965, a village known as "Saint Augustine" in Florida was established by the Spanish. Also, the English established Jamestown in Virginia in 1607, and they established Boston in the year of 1630.

The Dutch also established New Amsterdam, now known as New York, in the year of 1624. Five percent of the United States' population claimed residence in cities after the United States obtained independence. The city of Philadelphia was the largest city due to its population of forty-two-thousand people. Next, I will write about the Westward Expansion. Many different routes were established after the year 1800. When individuals stopped alongside these routes, new cities were established.

Examples of these cities include Detroit, Chicago, and many more cities. An approximate amount of twenty percent claimed residence in cities by the Civil War in 1860.This was the time when the term, urbanization" was more recognized. Therefore, the term "Urbanites" were used for individuals who claimed residence in cities. With the beginning of the Civil War, multiple factories were established.

To conclude this essay, cities being colonized has helped our societies in different ways. Cities have also changed in size over the years, for better or worse.

Education And Politics

In our society of the United States Of America, political points of view have a key role in social problems, which also includes the realm of education. In this essay, I will be covering what the Conservative, Liberal, and Radical Left believe are the problems and solutions to problems in education. To begin, I will write about the conservatives' point of view in regards to education. The Conservatives view the United States' academic aspect as a situation that has decreased in quality. The Conservatives' reason for this view is because they believe that the government has too much of an exclusive control over how the education system operates, and do not condone competition from one school to another. Because of this issue, the Conservative Political Party's solution is to encourage each school to compete with each other, in order to increase the quality of the education in various ways.

Next, I will write about the Liberal's point of view in regards to education. The Liberal Political Party believes that the government should maintain schools across the country. They also view the issues of schools on a sociological level, such as discrimination by race and inequality within class. Because of these reasons, the Liberal Political Party believes that bilingual classes would discourage prejudice behavior inside of the classroom. The Liberal Political Party also endorses school-based programs outside of the classroom, in order to lower the ratio of drugs and other crimes. The last political point of view I will write about is The Radical Left.

The Radical Left view the high amount of the wealthy and powerful as the decline of good education in the United States Of America. The Radical Left also believes that school systems blame the person instead of the school system's inequality. Both the Liberal and Radical Left political parties believe that schools should be given funds. However, they debate with others on the removal of the high amount of funding in wealthy schools to increase the amount of equality from school to school. As of 1998, the state of Vermont took small initiative with this strategy. Unfortunately, some inequality within schools would still be present due to some individual's backgrounds.

In conclusion, there are many ways the issue within education can be solved. Therefore, we must find a Political strategy that will make the future of academics brighter.

Education And Society

In the country of the United States Of America, there is a combination of people who receive a good education, and those who do not. However, there is a severe amount of individuals who do not receive a vital education. Because of this issue, I will be writing about social inequality in the realm of education, within the United States Of America. While in the United States Of America, individuals obtain a college degree by high measures, America ranks lower in more basic aspects of education compared to other countries. There are also individuals who have social disadvantages based around Academic Performance, Class, Ethnicity and Race. On the Scholastic Assessment Test, white individuals and Asians in America score equally common, while other races do not.

An example of this aspect is Latino and non-Latino White american individuals score by a basic amount of two-hundred points, and american individuals who score three-hundred points underneath the estimate of white individuals are African american individuals. Examples of why these situations occur is because young African american individuals have a small amount of educational resources. Also, young Latino individuals do not have enough skill in the English language, making it hard for them to progress through an american school. A study was done which showed that only twelve-percent of Latino and Native Americans finish their education in college. At home, children are disadvantaged at both home and school, which can vary depending on a family with high incomes and families with low income.

In conclusion, while these examples are only of but a few, it still shows how individuals are a academic disadvantages in many ways. Therefore, we can hope that the inequalities of education will decrease overtime.

Family Life And Politics

In the United States of America, family life is considered a major issue to politicians.  Therefore, I will be writing about each Political Parties view points about the issues of family life, and their belief on what the remedy for each issue should be. To begin, I will write about the Radical Left's concerns about Family Life, and their remedy to the issues. The Radical left believe that Family Life is constricted within inequality, which branches out into various forms of inequality. The Radical Left believes that families rely too much on forms of inequality gender, class, and sexual orientation.

To fix this issue, The Radical Left believes by reconstructing current family lives, and put organized groups of child care and housework into consideration. Next, I will write about the Liberal's point of view. The Liberal point of view believes that there is a limited amount of tolerance for the various types of how families are operated, and how society attempts to sculpt a family that is ideal limits people's choices. Liberals also believe that poverty existing within children and women is fatal, as well. Therefore, the Liberal Political Party believes that the remedies for these issues include encouraging the tolerance of various types of family life, expanding options for women economically, legalizing anti-discrimination laws, and increase the amount of child care options at an affordable price.

For the last part of this essay, I will write about the Conservative point of view on the issues and remedies of family life. The conservative point of view believes that ordinary families are starting to become defunct due to divorce, cohabiting and single parenting. Therefore, they believe that these issues put children in danger. The conservatives' remedies are the encouragement of committed marriage, alongside making committed marriages available. They also believe in declining certain types of divorce laws, and condone the decline cohabiting relationships.

As a conclusion for this essay, I will say that there are various ways for how family life can be cured. Therefore, it is up to the individual to decide what the remedies should be.

Family Life Changes

In the United States Of America, the concept of marriage has changed over a century ago. With many changes in marriage, it has even effected our society politically. Therefore, I will write about the changes in how families operate. The first change I will list is people who are living together that are not married. The term for this definition is "cohabiting". The amount of couples in the United States of America who are cohabiting increased from five-hundred-thousand couples in 1970 to approximately five-point-six million couples. The act of cohabiting is common in other nations, such as Sweden.

The second change I will list is the delay of marriage. The common age for marriage in the United States, during the year 1950, was twenty years-old for Women and twenty-two years for men. By 2003, however, number has increased to twenty-five years for women and twenty-seven years for men. The third change I will list is one-person parenting. As of 2005, children under the age of eighteen lived in a household with only one parent,an amount that has doubled since 1970.

There are many other categories to list, which include children being born into families with only one parent, couples spending time in the labor force, and many others. Therefore, to conclude this essay, there is more to marriage than meets the eye.

U.S. Economy and McJobs

In the United States of America, there are various forms of jobs available. However, some types of jobs can cause alienation and dehumanization. These types of jobs are known as "McJobs", which I will be writing about in this essay. The origin of the term "McJobs", comes from the name of the fast-food organization known as "McDonalds". McDonalds is the main example, while other jobs count as McJobs as well. To examine a McJob at McDonalds more, there are four different methods in how a McJob operates.

They use four different methods in order for the results to be the same across every restaurant. These are Efficiency, Predictability, Uniformity, and Automation. These types of jobs can also branch out into low-wage jobs. Examples of low-wage jobs include working at Walmart, being a waiter or waitress, and being a aid at a nursing home. However, doing a job didn't always work this way. How the type of work people do has changed is due to two fatal transitions within the economy. The Industrial Revolution from about or over two hundred years ago caused one transition in the economy, and the Information Revolution, which emerged during the 1950's.

To conclude this essay, there have been many changes in the United States economy. These changes have the potential to be for the worst. However, each person should find an efficient job that's right for them.

Computer Technology And Work

Before computers were invented, how the work place and businesses operated were different. However, with computer technology being advanced as it is today, it has changed the work place in both good and bad ways. An example of how the workplace has changed in a good way through computer technology, is that the work can be completed in any location throughout the world. Another positive attribute to the use of computer technology is that commuting to an office is no longer necessary. Also, this type of technology in the work-place is attractive to either families with younger children or individuals who are older. This type of work also gives individuals more access to maintaining goals in their career and family commitments.

While this type of work has positive reception, it can have bad results as well. One negative impact that this type of work can have on a individual is that the tension received from computer technology-based work can also enter the home. Also, isolation can be a result of at-home workers, along with not receiving promotions in their job. Gender inequality can be the result of this type of work, due to the type of work being popular with women. Due to the innovation of  computer technology, a negative result is that people who do their work on computers do not have as much real-life interactions with their co-workers.

To conclude this essay, computer technology has its benefits and draw-backs. Either way, individuals must choose carefully, and weigh out their options.

Big Government And Politics

While many individuals stereotype Liberals as being in desire of a big government, both political parties want a bigger government. However, they desire a big government for different reasons. Also, their reasons are more exclusive to their party's personal beliefs. Therefore, my essay will be based upon the views of both political parties, and their intentions for a big government. Also, I will be writing about why Liberals desire a big government more than conservatives.

To begin, I will write about why Liberals desire a big government the most. According to Liberals, many of the issues of our society are due to social inequality. The liberal solution, therefore, is to endorse more advanced taxation of and have the payments be put towards the expansion of social welfare programs. Liberals also desire the government to endorse the rights of women and minorities. They also believe that establishing a universal health care program operated by the government in order to support poor individuals.

Therefore, they believe the government should expand. The next and last part of this essay will be about why both Liberals and Conservatives desire a big government. I will next provide reasons why both Liberals and Conservatives favor a big government. To begin, I will go back to reviewing the Liberals, and provide more reasons on why they favor a bigger government. Liberals believe that the government should initiate the actions of non-discrimination. Also they believe that the government would be better if they increase the side of social welfare programs in order to decrease the issue of social inequality.

However, the Liberal viewpoint believes that it is unnecessary to manage morality, due to the fact that it prevents personal choices and freedom. Next, I will write about what Conservatives expect from a big government. From a conservative point of view, they believe that it is unnecessary for the government to make expansions for various social welfare programs. Also, the conservative point of view believes that a big government should endorse keeping taxes low, but decline laws on legalization of gay marriage and abortion. The conservative point of view believes that national security must be condoned, and the the decrease of social welfare will prevent prevent discourage from hard work in individuals.

To conclude this essay, it is not only Liberals that want a bigger government. However, it is both the Conservative and Liberal political parties. They both desire a big government in similar ways, but disagree in their strategies as well.

The Economy And Politics

In this essay, I will discuss how the Economy and Politics are similar to each other. To begin, I will write about the philosophies behind the Conservative viewpoints of the economy. The Conservative political party believes that open competition in the market provides healthy results for the market. The conservative political party also claims that society has the freedom to vote and participate in protests. Next, I will write about the philosophies behind the Liberal viewpoints of the economy.

Liberals prefer a economy that's market-based, as well. However, they prefer the market-based economy to be maintained by the government. While Liberals do want individuals to vote, they do not believe encouragement is enough. Instead, Liberals believe that they should give people power they need by providing the individuals with services of the increase of minimum wage, the expansion of child support services, and giving everyone the availability of government-funded health care. I will next write about the philosophies of The Radical Left.

The Radical Left do not believe in a system that is market-based. Therefore, The Radical Left believe that a market-based system is a form of capitalism. They also believe that people voting for more liberal roles in this country will cause capitalism to cease. Instead, they believe that the only way to stop capitalism is to have equality in voting and wealth from individuals. The plan provided by The Radical Left would result in a democratic society.

In conclusion, the Liberal and Conservative political parties have similar view points on what they condone. However, they disagree on how their plans should be initiated.

United States Health Care

In other countries such as Great Britain, Sweden, Japan and Canada have better health care than the United States. Studies have shown that the United States health care system is worse than the health care system in the Russian Federation. Therefore, my essay will be about the United States care system, and why the system is struggling in quality. My first reason is about Private Insurance. Individuals in the United States had to pay for their medical service with no health insurance in existence, which was before the second world war.

However, various companies provided health insurance to workers around the time of the second world war, and the health insurance industry expanded very quickly through the 1950;s and 1960's. Unfortunately, hospitals and doctors increased the fees for medical service of different forms due to lack of speculation from the individuals who used the services of health insurance. My second reason is specialized doctors. A majority of doctors have selected to give exclusive care in fields such as medicine, internal medicine, cancer treatment, or cosmetic surgery. Doctors who work in a exclusive category also require mandatory fees that are two times the amount of non-specialized care.

The estimated income for physicians in the United States Of America is two-hundred-fifty-thousand a year, which is more than twice the income in the year 1990. My third reason is higher levels of technology. In the United States of America, we choose technological themed medical services such as CAT scans. The progress in medical technology is the result of increasing expenses since the year 1950. Due to focusing on technology for better health, we over look methods such as dieting and exercising.

My fourth reason is lack of preventive care. Multiple people who are unable to afford preventive care only visit a doctor in a emergency. Also, when they do receive medicine for a dangerous health issue, the requirements are long-term hospital residence and high fees. My fifth issue is the aging population.

In the United States of America, the average of an individual's age is increasing. Individuals born within 1945-1960 have a larger amount of money to sue, and become more accustomed to worrying about their health. Therefore, the more they continue to age, the more medical issues they will encounter. Therefore, spending on medical service will increase. My sixth and last reason is lawsuits.

While many people believe a doctor can resolve a health issue, individuals have the potential to initiate a lawsuit when a doctor does not live up to the expectations of the individual. This type of activity has increased the fees of Malpractice insurance, which is a type of fee that doctors give to their patients. Doctors who are afraid of lawsuits protect themselves by providing other methods of care known as "defensive medicine", which has the potential to not be required. In conclusion, not only should we take of dieting and exercising, but we should also use our money and time wisely in medical care. Hopefully, these reasons can provide a change in how we utilize our health care.

Health In Society

In many parts of the world, we associate health with facts that are both medical and biological. However, this is not the case. Also, we believe that being healthy means not being ill. However, this is not true either. Instead, health is more about the conduct of society as opposed to medical and biological facts.

To begin, I will re-state information about nations that have a high income. People who are resident in more rich nations, such as North America and Western Europe, have better health compared to countries that have a low income An example that shows the good health of a society is the infant mortality rate. The term known as the "infant mortality rate" is a definition used for babies who become deceased before reaching the age of one within a ratio of one-thousand infants born.

Therefore, this ratio converts to each infant in the ratio of one-thousand having a ninety-nine point ninety-nine percent chance of living through the first year of their lives. Within the health of high-income nations, there is "life expectancy at birth". "Life expectancy at birth" is a term used for an estimated amount of years in which a human being is estimated to live. A study that was taken shows that boys have the potential to live up to seventy-five years old, while girls have the potential to live up to eighty years old, according to a test taken in the year of 2004. However, in other countries, an individual's life estimate is less than the amount of years of forty-five.

When an individual in a high-income does become deceased, it is usually due to a type of "chronic disease". A "chronic disease" is a type of illness that emerges over a long period of time. Chronic diseases consist of heart disease, stroke and cancer. Therefore, a society's income can play a role in an individual's health. With all of these statements taken into consideration, there can be health flaws in various nations with a high income.

An example of this statement is that individuals who are resident in the United States have a diet that consists of high amounts of fat. Americans also do not perform enough physical work. Therefore, two-thirds of full-grown individuals in America are overweight. Having too much weight on your body can result in health issues such as diabetes. This concludes the first part of my essay.

The next part of this essay will be about low income nations. The "World Health Organization" states that approximately one billion individuals have a fatal illness due to their wealth. Individuals who have low amounts of nutrition, alongside hazardous drinking water, are what infects individuals with diseases. Individuals in other countries that are poor also have a short life span. An example of this statement are nations such as Ethiopia, where a lack of nutrition and hazardous water results in the death of over half the amount of children in Ethiopia.

Also, half the amount of people in Asia are estimated to live up to age sixty. Also, individuals in lower-income nations become deceased at any age due to a type of "acute disease". An acute disease is a type of disease that infects the body promptly. These types of illnesses include cholera, diarrhea, malaria, measles and typhoid. These listed diseases were the same diseases that killed Americans many centuries ago.

The next part of this essay is the comparison of the rich and the poor being compared in reference to AIDS. To begin this part of the essay, Africa is known to be the world's most non-wealthy continent, and it has sixty-four percent of the globe's HIV-positive people. Various Presidents throughout our country have claimed AIDS as a threat to various aspects of Africa's future. The issue of AIDS has already taken the lives of twenty-five million individuals in Africa. One of the reasons why lower-income nations are vulnerable to AIDS is because lower-income nations have less establishments available for education and the prevention of AIDS. This concludes the third part of my essay.

The fourth part of my essay is about AIDS in the United States of America. In the United States Of America, the AIDS population is smaller than five percent. However, over 500,000 have become deceased due to AIDS. Therefore, this makes AIDS a fatal social issue. While there are AIDS education classes, health officials believe that younger generations of youth will not take this problem seriously. AIDS is an issue with the poor communities in the United States of America.

To conclude this entire essay, there are other areas to health beyond feeling ill. Therefore, we must continue to take care of ourselves in the best ways we can.

The Cultural Definition Of Drugs

In our society of the United of America, we have made various drugs a norm of our country. However, little do we know that cultures of other countries have defined drugs in our country. While many of the drugs in the United States of America are illegal to use, other countries view various drugs as acceptable. I will provide three different examples of this truth. The first example is the opposing views of drugs are the Europeans and the Native Americans.

Over a thousand years in their lives, the Europeans have used the consumption of alcohol as a past-time which they have consumed. However, when Native Americans consumed the various types of liquor and wine, they has no guidance in their consumption. Therefore, the end result was that tribal leaders classified alcohol as dangerous. However, when Europeans discovered that Native Americans used a drug known as "peyote" for multiple centuries during their rituals, the Europeans were offended by how startling the hallucinated experiences were. Therefore, Europeans stated that peyote was a hazardous drug. The second example is the opposing viewpoints of cocaine from South America to the United States Of America.

A plant used to make cocaine known a "Coca" has been planted for over a thousand years in various South American nations. In the nations of Bolivia, Peru and Columbia, multiple farmers locally either chew on or apply it as an ingredient to their tea in order for them to make it through the day. In the United States of America, however, the production, selling and owning cocaine is illegal. The reason why this drug is illegal in the United States of America is because many people portray the drug as a result of crime. The third and last opinion is the opposing opinions between the Chinese and The United States of America. During the 1850's, multiple Chinese people who immigrated to California enjoyed smoking a drug known as "opium". However, people who showed prejudice towards the Chinese immigrants resulted in having eleven western states making the smoking of opium illegal.

In conclusion, these are the various opposing views on drugs from culture-to-culture. Therefore, we must manage ourselves by learning about the dangerous effects of drugs.

Political Viewpoints On Sexuality

In this essay, I will be writing each political party's solution to sexual problems within our society of the United States of America. The first political point of view I will write about are the Conservative's point of view. Conservatives believe that each person should have a good moral compass on what is right and wrong sexually. Conservatives that sexuality should be used within marriage, and not outside of marriage. They believe that issues such as premarital sex are social issues, and think that they have the potential to increase the population of pregnancy in teenagers and sexually transmitted diseases. Conservatives are against pornography and prostitution for their effect of damaging marriages and morality.

Conservatives show strong dislike for abortion laws because it ends the lives of innocent unborn children. Therefore, they believe that encouraging higher levels of being sexually responsible will also prevent unacceptable pregnancies from emerging. However, not every conservative person agree on each point of sexuality. An example for a topic is homosexuality. While a percentage of conservatives do not endorse homosexuality for morality and religious reasons, another percentage of more moderate conservatives approve of homosexuality and are supportive of gay marriage. Conservatives believe that every social problem in the sexuality spectrum can be cured through social environments such as church, schools and good family lives.

The next political view I will cover is the Liberal's solution to sexual social problems.  Liberals believe that people should have their own exclusive freedoms. Liberals believe that an individual should have the rights to how they feel about sexuality. Therefore, this gives Liberals a personality that is more tolerant of sexuality. Liberals are also more tolerant of premarital sex, as long as the individual is mature and has a good knowledge base on the responsibilities of their actions. Liberals have boundaries of their tolerance towards sexual violence, AIDS and teenage pregnancy for examples. While liberals believe in freely speaking about sexuality, they believe that pornography are harmful to women.

They also believe that schools can give guidance to younger people in making wise decisions about sexuality. They also view the Criminal Justice System as a method for fighting against crimes such as domestic violence and rape. Liberals also believe that the government can use the tools they have to bring the ending of AIDS into the realm of possibility. Lastly, Liberals are supportive of abortion and abortion being funded by the government. The last political point of view is the Radical Left. Individuals on The Radical Left believe that sexual orientation, sexual violence, prostitution and pornography is the result of a socially unequal society. Radical Feminists within The Radical Left believe that the United States of America has too much patriarchy, therefore resulting in gender inequality that makes men dominate over women.

Therefore, the Radical left believes in erasing the classification of gender as a whole. They also believe that if technological advantages in reproduction are achieved, than women will be separated the historical stereotype of pregnancy. Therefore, radical feminists encourage teamwork to stay away from being dependent on the male population. A small amount of women also recommend breaking sexual connections with men to show respect for lesbians.

In conclusion, sexuality will definitely be in existence a century from now. However, one must choose where they stand sexually.

The Social Problem Of Sexual Harassment

In our society, of the United States Of America, sexuality is commonly discussed and advertised in multiple forms. When sexuality emerges in our culture, so does violence. Therefore, because of the two activities, sexual harassment emerges. In this essay, I will be writing about why sexual harassment emerges, and the results of the crime. To begin, the act of sexual violence can consist of either abuse through words and sexual intercourse being forced upon the victim. Both men and women are victims of this crime.

Some forms of analysis state that in the culture of the United States Of America, Violence and Sexuality are interlaced. Sexual violence branches off into sexual harassment. Sexual harassment consists of inappropriate remarks, hand signals and molesting of a sexual personality. During the women's movement of the 1960's, the events of sexual harassment in various environments were put to a halt. The Civil Rights Act was accepted in 1964, which prevented employment discrimination from occurring among not only African Americans but Women as well.

By 1972, the Civil Rights Act expanded to other environments such as schools, colleges and universities. In the year of 1976, a case in court increased awareness of sexual harassment in public. Therefore, it was categorized as a severe problem. According to the EEOC, there are two different categories of sexual harassment. The first category is known as quid pro quo harassment. Quid Pro Quo translates from latin to "one thing for another".

This type of harassment involves sexual approaches and sexual desires to be applied to another employee or as an aspect of employment. The other type of sexual harassment is more mild behavior. This type of behavior consists of inappropriate jokes, showcasing photographs which contain nudity, giving complimentary comments towards an individual's physical appearance and touching an individual in inappropriate ways. However, the law is most concerned on how it affects the individual, and is not limited to the offender. Therefore, the goal of the law is to prevent any acts that are of hostile behavior, and shows no bias towards the offender's motivations. To move on, I will explain what gender sexually harasses another gender.

Eighty-five percent of men sexually harass women, due to men holding a majority of power in the United States of America, and therefore have multiple roles in our society. On some occasions, men become victims of sexual harassment by other men, with the offender's motivation to force the male victim to blend into gender stereotypes. The United States Supreme Court addressed issue of sexual harassment two different times in the year of 1998. Both cases consists of women being sexually harassed in both mild and severe areas within work environments.

In conclusion, there are many points of view to sexual harassment, ones that are corrupt and other points of view that are morally correct. Either way, no matter where sexual harassment originates, it is not an acceptable act whatsoever.

Radicals View On Violence

In our society, we not only have the Left and Right political viewpoints. However, we also have the Radical Left and The Radical Right. I will be reviewing their similarities in this essay, and what both points of view believe. The Radical Left and Radical Right both view violence as an act of insurrection. People on the Radical Left and Radical Right believe that violence is the result of too much control in the government. Both sides also believe that acts of violence is an act of rebellion against the government by people who have no power.

Even though the Radical Left and the Radical Right agree with those viewpoints, they disagree on others. How they differ in their views on violence is that while the Radical Left believes that a shifting in political institutions are necessary, the Radical Right believe that society should be independent from the control of the government. While the Radical Left believes that the Capitalist agenda should be shut down, the Radical Right believe that society should have the right to bear fire-arms. Also, the Radical Right believe that laws such as the Welfare System and banning prayer in schools disables individuals from relying on themselves and running to the government for help. However, the Radical Left believes that we need a economic and political system which is not controlled by wealthy individuals.

In conclusion, both the Radical Left and Right agree and disagree on the solutions to violence. We can also hope that violence will decrease over time.

Sociological Theories On Violence

In the studies of biology and psychology, they analyze violence from individual to individual. However, in the study of sociology, sociologists study society as a whole. This paper will be based upon the sociological theories on violence, and why it occurs. The first theory is know as the Structural-Functional Analysis theory. This approach mentions that traditions in culture are what establishes violence. An archived study which was done by Marvin Wolfgang and Franco Ferracuti studied the culture within Sicily, and how they feel that jealousy within their family makes their honor safe.

This belief states that if a man shows disrespect by fleeing with a daughter, the cultural standards results in violence. This form of violence would have the potential to violate the law in the United States of America, but in a setting such as Sicily, this form of Violence is a requirement. While the method does not occur as often in modern-day Sicily, the method i still present in many religious cultures. A thesis known as the "Culture Of Violence" mentions that a society's intensity in violence varies in its cultural standards. In a similar way, a subculture has the potential to endorse violence. Researchers have claimed that a minority of younger men that are resident in low-income homes in the city use violence as a life standard.

This can be the result of not finishing college or obtaining a great job. In a survey taken by high-school students, nine-teen percent of girls an forty-three percent of boys stated that it is acceptable for someone to attack or threaten another individual if the individual makes them mad. Sixty-percent of girls and seventy-five percent of boys have claimed they committed this act. The second approach is the Symbolic-Interaction Analysis. The origins of violence are learned through communication with other individuals daily.

Children learn about violence through their parents and other individuals who are mutual to them, and mimic their behavior. Studies have shown that when a child acts out in aggressive behavior, they are rewarded for their acts of violence. Also kids who are victims of violence obtain their own violent behavior as they age. Peer groups, who are individuals we grow up with, become a vital aspect of learning. In college campuses, men use sexual violence as a sport, and women become victims of their act of violence.

The third and last theory is known as the social-conflict analysis. This form of analysis views violence as a result of inequality. The first theory within this theory is known as the "Marxist Theory". Karl Marx stated that societies who have a capitalist agenda were separated into two categories. These two categories are ruling capitalists and workers. According to Karl Marx, the elite of the capitalists are in control of society, and the elite capitalists make people work hard to endure.

Karl Marx also thought that the elite capitalist use the national guard and police forces to prevent rebellion against this agenda. Within his theory, he felt that violence being used by capitalists to defend their control over society, which is known as Structural Violence. Therefore, the result of structural violence is poverty. The last theory inside of the social-conflict analysis is the feminist theory. Feminists feel that men dominate women the separation of society. Feminists also feel that violence is the result of women being second in rank.

Women have lower income than men, many of them do not have roles in the government and are lesser in power compared to men daily. Therefore, women become victims of sexual violence by men who view themselves in control. Both theories inside of this analysis view from their own status, therefore they both believe that crime and riots are rebellious acts, but not as breaking the law. They view rebellious acts a way to attack an agenda that is tainted with corruption.

In conclusion, all theories have good views on why violence emerges. Therefore, we must take the views into consideration. This is the reason why the Sociological Approach is more effective than other types of approach.
