One of the few theories that explains the problems and solutions to our environmental problems is known as the Social-Conflict Approach. Within this theory, there is a term known as "Environmental Racism". This theory states that prejudice is exposed by environmental dangers that are nearby poor individuals, mainly minorities. According to historical records, this type of environmental damage comes from factories. Therefore, people of poor income are attracted to these jobs, due to their availability. After when they are hired, the only way they feel they can survive is by working in these dangerous establishments.
This theory also mentions that all of these events occur due to the conduct of capitalism. The theory also mentions that through controlling factories and other groups, they can assign these factories and groups to manipulate people into doing the assigned tasks. The solution provided by this theory states that equality within households, and the redistributing of products from more advanced nations to nations that are not as advanced, are what is required to stop environmental racism. Unfortunately, while this strategy is good, the success rate is low, which is due to historical records stating that socialist strategies become defunct over time. However, studies have shown that societies under capitalistic conduct have the potential to make progress in protecting the environment from harm. Examples of these capitalistic nations are North America and Europe.
To conclude this essay, environment racism is harmful in multiple ways. However, with just the right strategy, maybe we can stop this form of prejudice.
