In today's society, we use the terms "Sex" and "Gender" as they both have the same definition. However, both terms have different meanings. People with the profession of sociology expose these contrasts by using a term known as, "gender". The concept behind gender gender refers to personal characteristics and percentages of chance in life that our society connects to either being male or female. The term "sex" is a biological definition used for when when an embryo is created. Differences in direct biological traits are what permit women and men to reproduce.
Gender can also be a component of a term known as "Gender Stratification". The term "Gender Stratification" is the transfer of wealth, power and privilege that is unbalanced between men and women. Within Gender stratification, there are various percentages of patriarchy. The term "Patriarchy" is a social strategy where males overpower females. The term, "matriarchy" refers to a social pattern where females overpower males. Even though matriarchy exists, it is very obscure.
In conclusion, this is why gender is a component of social stratification.
