U.S. Economy and McJobs

In the United States of America, there are various forms of jobs available. However, some types of jobs can cause alienation and dehumanization. These types of jobs are known as "McJobs", which I will be writing about in this essay. The origin of the term "McJobs", comes from the name of the fast-food organization known as "McDonalds". McDonalds is the main example, while other jobs count as McJobs as well. To examine a McJob at McDonalds more, there are four different methods in how a McJob operates.

They use four different methods in order for the results to be the same across every restaurant. These are Efficiency, Predictability, Uniformity, and Automation. These types of jobs can also branch out into low-wage jobs. Examples of low-wage jobs include working at Walmart, being a waiter or waitress, and being a aid at a nursing home. However, doing a job didn't always work this way. How the type of work people do has changed is due to two fatal transitions within the economy. The Industrial Revolution from about or over two hundred years ago caused one transition in the economy, and the Information Revolution, which emerged during the 1950's.

To conclude this essay, there have been many changes in the United States economy. These changes have the potential to be for the worst. However, each person should find an efficient job that's right for them.

Computer Technology And Work

Before computers were invented, how the work place and businesses operated were different. However, with computer technology being advanced as it is today, it has changed the work place in both good and bad ways. An example of how the workplace has changed in a good way through computer technology, is that the work can be completed in any location throughout the world. Another positive attribute to the use of computer technology is that commuting to an office is no longer necessary. Also, this type of technology in the work-place is attractive to either families with younger children or individuals who are older. This type of work also gives individuals more access to maintaining goals in their career and family commitments.

While this type of work has positive reception, it can have bad results as well. One negative impact that this type of work can have on a individual is that the tension received from computer technology-based work can also enter the home. Also, isolation can be a result of at-home workers, along with not receiving promotions in their job. Gender inequality can be the result of this type of work, due to the type of work being popular with women. Due to the innovation of  computer technology, a negative result is that people who do their work on computers do not have as much real-life interactions with their co-workers.

To conclude this essay, computer technology has its benefits and draw-backs. Either way, individuals must choose carefully, and weigh out their options.

Big Government And Politics

While many individuals stereotype Liberals as being in desire of a big government, both political parties want a bigger government. However, they desire a big government for different reasons. Also, their reasons are more exclusive to their party's personal beliefs. Therefore, my essay will be based upon the views of both political parties, and their intentions for a big government. Also, I will be writing about why Liberals desire a big government more than conservatives.

To begin, I will write about why Liberals desire a big government the most. According to Liberals, many of the issues of our society are due to social inequality. The liberal solution, therefore, is to endorse more advanced taxation of and have the payments be put towards the expansion of social welfare programs. Liberals also desire the government to endorse the rights of women and minorities. They also believe that establishing a universal health care program operated by the government in order to support poor individuals.

Therefore, they believe the government should expand. The next and last part of this essay will be about why both Liberals and Conservatives desire a big government. I will next provide reasons why both Liberals and Conservatives favor a big government. To begin, I will go back to reviewing the Liberals, and provide more reasons on why they favor a bigger government. Liberals believe that the government should initiate the actions of non-discrimination. Also they believe that the government would be better if they increase the side of social welfare programs in order to decrease the issue of social inequality.

However, the Liberal viewpoint believes that it is unnecessary to manage morality, due to the fact that it prevents personal choices and freedom. Next, I will write about what Conservatives expect from a big government. From a conservative point of view, they believe that it is unnecessary for the government to make expansions for various social welfare programs. Also, the conservative point of view believes that a big government should endorse keeping taxes low, but decline laws on legalization of gay marriage and abortion. The conservative point of view believes that national security must be condoned, and the the decrease of social welfare will prevent prevent discourage from hard work in individuals.

To conclude this essay, it is not only Liberals that want a bigger government. However, it is both the Conservative and Liberal political parties. They both desire a big government in similar ways, but disagree in their strategies as well.

The Economy And Politics

In this essay, I will discuss how the Economy and Politics are similar to each other. To begin, I will write about the philosophies behind the Conservative viewpoints of the economy. The Conservative political party believes that open competition in the market provides healthy results for the market. The conservative political party also claims that society has the freedom to vote and participate in protests. Next, I will write about the philosophies behind the Liberal viewpoints of the economy.

Liberals prefer a economy that's market-based, as well. However, they prefer the market-based economy to be maintained by the government. While Liberals do want individuals to vote, they do not believe encouragement is enough. Instead, Liberals believe that they should give people power they need by providing the individuals with services of the increase of minimum wage, the expansion of child support services, and giving everyone the availability of government-funded health care. I will next write about the philosophies of The Radical Left.

The Radical Left do not believe in a system that is market-based. Therefore, The Radical Left believe that a market-based system is a form of capitalism. They also believe that people voting for more liberal roles in this country will cause capitalism to cease. Instead, they believe that the only way to stop capitalism is to have equality in voting and wealth from individuals. The plan provided by The Radical Left would result in a democratic society.

In conclusion, the Liberal and Conservative political parties have similar view points on what they condone. However, they disagree on how their plans should be initiated.

United States Health Care

In other countries such as Great Britain, Sweden, Japan and Canada have better health care than the United States. Studies have shown that the United States health care system is worse than the health care system in the Russian Federation. Therefore, my essay will be about the United States care system, and why the system is struggling in quality. My first reason is about Private Insurance. Individuals in the United States had to pay for their medical service with no health insurance in existence, which was before the second world war.

However, various companies provided health insurance to workers around the time of the second world war, and the health insurance industry expanded very quickly through the 1950;s and 1960's. Unfortunately, hospitals and doctors increased the fees for medical service of different forms due to lack of speculation from the individuals who used the services of health insurance. My second reason is specialized doctors. A majority of doctors have selected to give exclusive care in fields such as medicine, internal medicine, cancer treatment, or cosmetic surgery. Doctors who work in a exclusive category also require mandatory fees that are two times the amount of non-specialized care.

The estimated income for physicians in the United States Of America is two-hundred-fifty-thousand a year, which is more than twice the income in the year 1990. My third reason is higher levels of technology. In the United States of America, we choose technological themed medical services such as CAT scans. The progress in medical technology is the result of increasing expenses since the year 1950. Due to focusing on technology for better health, we over look methods such as dieting and exercising.

My fourth reason is lack of preventive care. Multiple people who are unable to afford preventive care only visit a doctor in a emergency. Also, when they do receive medicine for a dangerous health issue, the requirements are long-term hospital residence and high fees. My fifth issue is the aging population.

In the United States of America, the average of an individual's age is increasing. Individuals born within 1945-1960 have a larger amount of money to sue, and become more accustomed to worrying about their health. Therefore, the more they continue to age, the more medical issues they will encounter. Therefore, spending on medical service will increase. My sixth and last reason is lawsuits.

While many people believe a doctor can resolve a health issue, individuals have the potential to initiate a lawsuit when a doctor does not live up to the expectations of the individual. This type of activity has increased the fees of Malpractice insurance, which is a type of fee that doctors give to their patients. Doctors who are afraid of lawsuits protect themselves by providing other methods of care known as "defensive medicine", which has the potential to not be required. In conclusion, not only should we take of dieting and exercising, but we should also use our money and time wisely in medical care. Hopefully, these reasons can provide a change in how we utilize our health care.

Health In Society

In many parts of the world, we associate health with facts that are both medical and biological. However, this is not the case. Also, we believe that being healthy means not being ill. However, this is not true either. Instead, health is more about the conduct of society as opposed to medical and biological facts.

To begin, I will re-state information about nations that have a high income. People who are resident in more rich nations, such as North America and Western Europe, have better health compared to countries that have a low income An example that shows the good health of a society is the infant mortality rate. The term known as the "infant mortality rate" is a definition used for babies who become deceased before reaching the age of one within a ratio of one-thousand infants born.

Therefore, this ratio converts to each infant in the ratio of one-thousand having a ninety-nine point ninety-nine percent chance of living through the first year of their lives. Within the health of high-income nations, there is "life expectancy at birth". "Life expectancy at birth" is a term used for an estimated amount of years in which a human being is estimated to live. A study that was taken shows that boys have the potential to live up to seventy-five years old, while girls have the potential to live up to eighty years old, according to a test taken in the year of 2004. However, in other countries, an individual's life estimate is less than the amount of years of forty-five.

When an individual in a high-income does become deceased, it is usually due to a type of "chronic disease". A "chronic disease" is a type of illness that emerges over a long period of time. Chronic diseases consist of heart disease, stroke and cancer. Therefore, a society's income can play a role in an individual's health. With all of these statements taken into consideration, there can be health flaws in various nations with a high income.

An example of this statement is that individuals who are resident in the United States have a diet that consists of high amounts of fat. Americans also do not perform enough physical work. Therefore, two-thirds of full-grown individuals in America are overweight. Having too much weight on your body can result in health issues such as diabetes. This concludes the first part of my essay.

The next part of this essay will be about low income nations. The "World Health Organization" states that approximately one billion individuals have a fatal illness due to their wealth. Individuals who have low amounts of nutrition, alongside hazardous drinking water, are what infects individuals with diseases. Individuals in other countries that are poor also have a short life span. An example of this statement are nations such as Ethiopia, where a lack of nutrition and hazardous water results in the death of over half the amount of children in Ethiopia.

Also, half the amount of people in Asia are estimated to live up to age sixty. Also, individuals in lower-income nations become deceased at any age due to a type of "acute disease". An acute disease is a type of disease that infects the body promptly. These types of illnesses include cholera, diarrhea, malaria, measles and typhoid. These listed diseases were the same diseases that killed Americans many centuries ago.

The next part of this essay is the comparison of the rich and the poor being compared in reference to AIDS. To begin this part of the essay, Africa is known to be the world's most non-wealthy continent, and it has sixty-four percent of the globe's HIV-positive people. Various Presidents throughout our country have claimed AIDS as a threat to various aspects of Africa's future. The issue of AIDS has already taken the lives of twenty-five million individuals in Africa. One of the reasons why lower-income nations are vulnerable to AIDS is because lower-income nations have less establishments available for education and the prevention of AIDS. This concludes the third part of my essay.

The fourth part of my essay is about AIDS in the United States of America. In the United States Of America, the AIDS population is smaller than five percent. However, over 500,000 have become deceased due to AIDS. Therefore, this makes AIDS a fatal social issue. While there are AIDS education classes, health officials believe that younger generations of youth will not take this problem seriously. AIDS is an issue with the poor communities in the United States of America.

To conclude this entire essay, there are other areas to health beyond feeling ill. Therefore, we must continue to take care of ourselves in the best ways we can.

The Cultural Definition Of Drugs

In our society of the United of America, we have made various drugs a norm of our country. However, little do we know that cultures of other countries have defined drugs in our country. While many of the drugs in the United States of America are illegal to use, other countries view various drugs as acceptable. I will provide three different examples of this truth. The first example is the opposing views of drugs are the Europeans and the Native Americans.

Over a thousand years in their lives, the Europeans have used the consumption of alcohol as a past-time which they have consumed. However, when Native Americans consumed the various types of liquor and wine, they has no guidance in their consumption. Therefore, the end result was that tribal leaders classified alcohol as dangerous. However, when Europeans discovered that Native Americans used a drug known as "peyote" for multiple centuries during their rituals, the Europeans were offended by how startling the hallucinated experiences were. Therefore, Europeans stated that peyote was a hazardous drug. The second example is the opposing viewpoints of cocaine from South America to the United States Of America.

A plant used to make cocaine known a "Coca" has been planted for over a thousand years in various South American nations. In the nations of Bolivia, Peru and Columbia, multiple farmers locally either chew on or apply it as an ingredient to their tea in order for them to make it through the day. In the United States of America, however, the production, selling and owning cocaine is illegal. The reason why this drug is illegal in the United States of America is because many people portray the drug as a result of crime. The third and last opinion is the opposing opinions between the Chinese and The United States of America. During the 1850's, multiple Chinese people who immigrated to California enjoyed smoking a drug known as "opium". However, people who showed prejudice towards the Chinese immigrants resulted in having eleven western states making the smoking of opium illegal.

In conclusion, these are the various opposing views on drugs from culture-to-culture. Therefore, we must manage ourselves by learning about the dangerous effects of drugs.
